How your wandering mind can be a bliss & bane to you?
Mind wandering is indeed an annoying thing especially if you are working on something really important or creative?
But why does this stuff happens?? According to researchers & scientists, half the time, we are not fully immersed in whatever we are occupied into. That means, we are doing something & thinking about something else. Well, if you deeply pay attention to it, your mind always craves for something else. It constantly tries to take you into the past or propel you towards future thinking.
Moreover, it also happens that when our mind decides to wander, it goes into the past & always makes us visualize negative events that have affected us. Like how we have been ditched. If I were to select that opportunity, I would have been happier. Things like that!!!
It is another point of discussion why most times we are forced into thinking negative. One more thing, we are also pushed into day dreaming. Scientific research has proved that day dreaming or letting your mind wander are really healthy ingredients for creativity (Focus by Daniel Goleman).
We get a Eureka moment more often when our mind is in complete state of relax and is not overloaded with stuff. Walking on the beach lonely, you would suddenly find the answer to your most critical math problem because your mind explores all solutions & tries to connect the dots from what it has extracted related to that problem. It almost happens intuitively. You get these moments of brilliance. Hence, one is advised to let yourself loose & find the solutions of your problems into happiest or solitary moments of your life.
But, our question remains intact, is mind wandering harmful or bliss? Well, it depends on the context. If you are doing something that requires your mind into it like reading then you have to train your mind to do it. But if you are stuck somewhere, you can let your mind loose & wander.
You will be surprised with the results of both.
