Don’t be filthy by calling yourself ‘Guilty’!!!

I have been trying really hard these days to keep fit. I have started to run 5 stretches of a park which is reasonably big in size. Some days, I am able to run and feel the satisfaction and someday my body parts just refuse to move. This is when guilt resides in my mind. I feel like, I have ruined all the work that I have accumulated in the past weeks or days.

This ‘guilt’ really is a very harmful thing to happen to any person. It gets so hard to concentrate on the work; you are like always thinking of it even when you are engaged in a meeting, at your home, office, coffee shop etc.

People who are suffering from obesity feel the same kind of guilt when they binge on to that extra smoothie or that hamburger which they painstakingly avoided during the day. This guilt is the reason of more harms than good. Off course when guilt resides in your mind, the person curses himself for letting that temptation to slide in. uuhhh…Bad luck!!

Again, let’s move to the example of an obese lady, who is trying hard in the gym, dieting all day long and when the feeling of achievement engulfs here she eats a donut. After sometime she feels why I ate that donut. This is when guilt neutralizes her mind she says to herself, I can’t do it. I will always be a fatty chicken and nobody will ever marry me.

Now she is totally controlled by the ghost called Guilt. What she does, out of her resentment and anger, she decides to eat 5 more donuts thinking she is going to get fatty after that 1st donut anyway why bother for 5 more. It’s like 1 murder leads to death penalty and 5 will also lead to the same. Nothing extra.

Though the lady didn’t do any good by eating that donut but she punished her guilt or put it technically correct, she punished herself more by binging on 5 more donuts. The resultant is obviously negative.

Whatever the quest, we often face situations where we have to fight with our inner demons and guilt is one of them. But conventional wisdom says, its ok if you have given in to that temptation, now there is no spinning the wheel back, all you can do is let it sulk in and start following what you set out initially before the temptation. You will be amazed with the results that you may get.

It’s never good or wiser to go all out or just go out. There is a middle path and you can always go all out again after that halt (guilt). With this note, I with you all who have stumbled to this post let’s try to get over our guilt and carry on with our quest for what is meaningful to us.

I would love to hear what guilt you people are carrying and how you have conquered that inner demons to get back to the path of self-recovery?

Probably, we all wear mask of some sort. We all are pure till we are at our home barring few exceptions but the moment we step into this dirty little world, we suddenly wear mask. Mask to veil our true identity. Why one hides his/her... Continue →
