Blaming & making excuses can land you in your dream job. How? Read it.

Well, I am always intrigued by the concept of creativity. It was the first question put on me when I applied for the post of copy writer.

“How creative are you?”, asked the creative director. I said, I am very much a creative block. Pat, comes the second question, ‘How do you know?’ now that made me nervous.

I pullback my composure & told with all innocence, I happen to perform tasks creatively. People recognize me as a creative person.
Looked not convinced by the answer, he says, “coz people say you are creative, you think you are.” Things started to sound crappy & I was fuming from inside on myself, why I gave that answer. He will grill me to the core. Shit!!! Man.

“Ok, no issues tell me how creatively you can mend this fan”. Hanging from the ceiling, the fan looked totally out of order for a long time. Suddenly all negative thoughts surrounded at the same time. What if this happens to fall on the head of this guy.

With all my courage I asked, what’s the problem with it? It doesn’t work, ‘can you mend it creatively’. I almost said ‘no’ but gave myself extra time to think, if I can.

Being in a creative field, I have learnt one important lesson, when you can’t think of anything, blame it on the ‘creative block’ (A state where people can’t think of creative solution or simply can’t think on their feet).

I spoke with all my courage in the world, well, the only way is to call an electrician & have it mend by him. For the creative part of it, I am having a ‘creative block’. The director burst into laughter & told to me join from Monday.

I still suspected, why he had a laugh at my answer. I joined on the designated day; I asked the man why did he have that laugh? He said, “you are really adapt at making excuses & blaming the hypothetical creative block” You have what it takes to excel but without work, you can’t.

Let’s get back to work & discuss it latter. So, guys that’s my story, how blaming & excusing can leave you with your dream job? It doesn’t apply on you guys, though.

I am still busy thinking, why I got hired? Guess is all yours to make. Comment your answers, why I was chosen.
